Two more drivers have been "taken off our roads" for alleged drink and drug driving, Dorset Police have said.

Traffic police stopped a vehicle in Weymouth yesterday on suspicion of having no insurance.

According to a spokesman, the driver produced a valid insurance policy "but failed the roadside drug wipe for cocaine".

The individual was arrested and is currently under investigation.

Another driver was reported by a member of the public for suspected drink driving, say police.

Officers from the team "responded quickly" and located the vehicle at the person's home address in Poole.

A statement released by Dorset Police said: "The driver was very unsteady on his feet and smelt strongly of alcohol.

"The driver was arrested and at the police station blew over two times the drink driver limit.

"The member of public acted quickly and called 999, providing key information about location, registration and manner of driving. "Thankfully no one was hurt.

"The manner of driver was filmed on a dash cam and will be released in due course following the investigation.

"Thank you to the member of public who called".

The arrests come after a 'day of action', which saw five drivers arrested for drug and drink driving in Weymouth and Dorchester.
