Did you know in 2018, 52 homeless people died in the South West.

Luckily, churches, with the help of the Lantern Trust, are opening their doors to homeless people during the coldest months of this winter to help keep them warm.

We think this is a really great project as hopefully it will mean not as many people will get sick or die in the winter and no one should have to be cold at night.

Here at St George’s Primary School we will also be trying to help by collecting toiletries and warm clothes which we will donate to homeless people to help them stay well this winter.

Although the churches will not be open all the time because they will still need to function and put on events we believe homeless people do not have a choice about being homeless so they deserve to have a place to go at least at night that is comfortable, safe and warm.

We suggest, if you see a homeless person, maybe give them something, even if it is just a friendly face.

Think about how would you feel if you were homeless?

Maybe you could lend a hand by giving them some spare change, a coffee, some food or a smile.
