Firefighters from Bridport's station helped deal with the incident, which took place near the tennis court.

According to the fire service, a car left the road and rolled numerous times down the hill before coming to a stop in a 'precarious' position.

One woman was trapped in the vehicle and crews worked to stabilise the car with a winch so it did not move any further.

They then proceeded to cut the vehicle using hydraulic rescue equipment so they could free the casualty.

All this was being done whilst the casualty was receiving treatment from paramedics.

Once released, the woman was placed on a stretcher and carried up the hill. She was then taken to hospital.

According to the fire service, the woman’s condition is believed to be serious but not life-threatening.
