Many people are now aware of the huge success of the local Park Run held at Weymouth every Saturday morning.

The event caters for serious runners and casual joggers and even walkers from Weymouth and beyond.

Indeed, the overall benefits for health and well-being (as well as tackling the massive obesity problem) are now being recognised nationally and internationally.

Well done Weymouth Park Run.

Having said all of the above, wouldn’t it make sense to allow ‘free parking’ until 10am on Saturday mornings at the Lodmoor car park rather than targeting the park runners’ cars in order to issue parking penalties?

After all, not everyone is familiar with local parking restrictions.

Weymouth council need to be aware of the benefits of exercise and not discourage those citizens who choose to get out and do it.
