PEOPLE living with Type 2 diabetes can learn how to manage their condition better at an awareness-raising event.
Diabetes UK will host 'Living with Diabetes Day' in Weymouth, where people will have the chance to attend workshops with a specialist nurse, podiatrist and dietitian.
The event at Hotel Rembrandt on Wednesday, March 13, aims to equip local people living with diabetes with the information they need to eat a healthy diet, care for their feet and maintain their overall health and wellbeing.
There will also be a chance to meet others living with the condition.
Matt Robert, Diabetes UK south west improving care manager, said: "On average people with diabetes spend only three hours a year with a healthcare professional, so it’s incredibly important to take care of yourself.
"If not managed well, diabetes can lead to devastating complications, including blindness, lower limb amputation, kidney failure and stroke. But the good news is there’s a lot you can do yourself and our Living with Diabetes Day will show you how. This event is essential for anyone with Type 2 diabetes.”
The event will take place at Best Western Hotel Rembrandt on Dorchester Road from 9.30am 4.30pm. Lunch and refreshments will be provided.
Book a free place at eu.eventscloud.com/lwd-dorset. Registration is essential.
