MR CHRISTOPHER’S response of January 18 to my letter of January 14 is an excellent illustration of my point about the threat to Fordington from over-development of housing and the increase in speculative development proposals.

I said almost every spare inch of Fordington has had housing built on it and, incredibly, he’s responded that there are still some spare inches left that could be built on.

I rest my case about the danger to the character of this area.

Urban open areas, natural spaces, both public and private, are precious so let’s call a halt now before we get to the situation where the development lobby does actually propose building on Salisbury Field and Fordington Green.
