HEAR saxophonist Pete Canter play Latin jazz in Lyme Regis on Sunday, January 27.
Pete, accompanied by Philip Clouts at the piano, will be playing music from Brazilian icons Antonio Carlos Jobim and Joao Gilberto, and jazz greats such as trumpeter Dizzy Gillespie and pianist Chick Corea, as part of the Marine Theatre’s Jazz in the Bar series.
Latin American music covers a wide range, from the lilting bossa novas of Brazil to the more muscular rhythms of Cuba, and jazz musicians have found it a continuing source of inspiration.
Pete has recorded several albums which have been very well received, and played at major UK festivals including the Cheltenham Jazz Festival, Teignmouth Jazz Festival, Bude Jazz Festival and Exeter Vibraphonic.
*Jazz in the Bar, Marine Theatre, Lyme Regis, Sunday, January 27, 8pm. Bar opens at 7pm. Tickets cost £8 in advance or £12 on the door.
