ACTORS in Bere Regis have raised £1,145.25 for a charity set up in memory of a talented young cricketer.

The village-based community group Pop In Performers were delighted to hand over the cheque to Paula and Andy Kent of the Ed Kent Trust.

Ed died of an asthma attack on November 14, 2015 at the age of 13.

The Performers group staged three Christmas shows in December and raised awareness and funds for the work of The Trust.

The Ed Kent Trust was set up in February 2017 in memory of Edward Kent of Bere Regis.

The object of the trust is to raise funds in order to provide grant aid to both individuals and to organisations, supporting youth cricket and other sports in Dorset and also to support young percussionists in the county.

Alison Bennett BEM, who runs the Pop In Performers, said: "It was lovely to see the children in our group put their hearts and souls into our productions some of them knew Ed and it was something that they were very keen to be part of."
