A Dorset builder who worked on the construction of Poundbury has been named 'UK’s top site manager' for a third time.
Stephen Walker of C G Fry & Son, Dorchester, won in the 'Medium Builder' category during a glittering black-tie event, hosted by Paddy McGuinness at the Hilton Metropole, London.
The NHBC Pride in the Job awards ceremony took place on January 25 and was the 38th time the awards have been held.
Bosses say the scheme was set up "to recognise and reward a site manager’s dedication to achieving the highest standards in house building - as well as their commitment to building homes of outstanding quality".
The judging process for this year's award started back in 2017, when inspectors began assessing managers against the NHBC's "stringent" technical standards.
According to organisers, Mr Walker, who has been involved with the Poundbury site since 1993, triumphed for his management of the site's North East Quadrant development.
Steve Wood, NHBC chief executive, praised Mr Walker's achievements and said that the role of site manager is "among the toughest in the industry".
“Congratulations to Steve, this accolade is thoroughly deserved”, he added.
