The life and works of Scotland’s Bard was celebrated as members and guests of the South Dorset Caledonian Society gathered for the annual Burns Night Dinner.

This was the 81st dinner to be held by the society and it was held at the Crown Hotel in Weymouth.

After a warm welcome from the president, Janette Martindill, the tradition of ‘Addressing the Haggis’ was performed by the immediate past president, Frank Tough.

The dinner and speeches followed, after which all retired to the ballroom for some Scottish Ceilidh Dancing and folk music.

The society promotes traditional Scottish interests and entertainment for Scots and those who enjoy the traditions. It organises social events and dances and celebrates Burns Night and St Andrew’s Day.
