SO WE now have a 20mph speed limit in the Westham area of Weymouth, with an intention expressed to broaden the scope.
This to “save lives”. Perhaps someone could confirm how many lives have been lost to traffic accidents in the area concerned over the last 70 years or for that matter serious accidents.
However, let’s all get on the bandwagon shall we.
I propose that in order to save lives a 20mph limit is introduced from the Ridgeway layby, from the top of Abbotsbury Hill and the coast road opposite the White Horse.
That within this area vehicles should be preceded by men carrying flags on sticks (good for unemployment) and the constabulary be issued with blue lights for their horses.
We might even get a steam packet for the Channel Island run and Portland Harbour dredged to accommodate the 500 ships of the Royal Navy.
I would certainly sleep sounder knowing that we had finally caught up with the town/county council.
