NEW jobs are being advertised for Weymouth Town Council – which is being created in April.
Half a dozen jobs are currently available – with other staff joining the new council when their roles are transferred across from the borough council.
Cllr Alison Reed, Weymouth & Portland Borough Council brief holder for corporate affairs and chair of the shadow management committee said: “Dorset Councils Partnership is currently advertising roles for the new Weymouth Town Council. These roles will make up the council business and finance team, with some existing staff TUPEing across to fill roles.
“There is one senior post being advertised, that of business and finance manager, and five administrative posts covering general administration, finance, democratic services, communications and other specialities.
“We anticipate further roles will be advertised after the town council launches in April 2019. These are likely to focus on improving the street scene and building on existing work to make Weymouth the best place it can be to live, work, learn and visit.”
It is anticipated that the new council will finally employ around fifty staff – many being based at the borough council office in Commercial Road.
