HI, IT’S Emily and William here this week talking about the unexpected snow we had recently.

I, William, particularly want to talk about it, because when I woke up on that Friday morning and looked outside the window, I was really surprised to see so much snow on the ground. My first thought was that I wanted to get out and walk on it, to see how soft it was, and build a snowman.

It was also good because I don’t work on a Friday and was able to choose what to do. So I quickly got dressed, had some breakfast, and went outside. The snow was soft as I walked along the pavement, and made a lovely crunchy noise as I walked on it.

I wanted to walk through Borough Gardens but the gates were locked, perhaps because the park keeper couldn’t get in to open them. It was about 10am and they are normally open about 7am. Instead I went into town and looked round the shops. Most were closed so I didn’t stay long. By the afternoon the snow had melted and turned to ice, so the pavements were like a skating rink!

I didn’t get to make a snowman. Nor did I, Emily. We have agreed that next time there’s a big snowfall, we will text each other and meet up with Laura (who helps us edit this column) for a snow meeting – to include tobogganing, a snowball fight and making a snowman.

I, Emily, the day before it snowed, stayed with work friends near where I work, as I didn’t want to go home and get stuck. We stayed in the warm and watched telly.

Did you enjoy the snow, readers? We’d love to hear your snow stories.
