I WISH to thank the person who knocked over and killed my six-month-old kitten on Wednesday, October 3 and didn't bother to stop.

My husband and I were left to console three very distraught children.

I realise that accidents at times can not be avoided but if there were speed bumps within this vicinity, as promised when the new houses were built, then accidents like this could hopefully be avoided.

We have become sick and fed-up with motorists using this road as a cut-through to miss traffic on the Fords corner roundabout and Portland Road.

It is also used as a speed track for boy racers at all times of the day.

It will not be long before a child is killed on this stretch of road.

I also want to make people aware that this road is one of the main exits from All Saints School and kids are being made vulnerable by the heavy amount of traffic which seems to permanently on our street.

I find it hard to believe that any sensible resident on this street would oppose the prospect of traffic calming bumps to ensure residents' safety.

Within weymouth there are many streets that have these accident-preventing systems that work very well, for instance Faircross Avenue and Hillcrest Road.

Is it not time to make this over-used street a safer place to live for both ourselves, our children and our pets?
