More bands have been announced for an upcoming music festival based in Dorset.

Teddy Rocks festival has made a huge announcement, adding more than 80 acts to an already glittering line up.

The 2019 event will now be the biggest iteration of the festival to date, with The Darkness and The Zutons headlining the May bank holiday weekend.

Day tickets and weekend camping tickets are now available for the festival, which will take place at Charisworth Farm, Blandford Forum on Friday, May 3 until Sunday, May 5.

Split across four stages, more than 80 acts will perform at the family-friendly festival during the weekend, including a mix of internationally recognised artists, up-and-coming UK breakthrough acts and local talent.

Headlining the OnBuy.com Main Stage on Saturday, May 4 is British rock band The Darkness, who shot to fame in 2003 with their single ‘I Believe in a Thing Called Love’, from their number one UK album ‘Permission to Land.’

Closing the event on Sunday, May 5 is indie rock band, The Zutons, who are best known for their chart-topping songs ‘Valerie’ and ‘Why Won’t You Give Me Your Love?’

Other acts performing over the weekend include Phil Campbell, the guitarist from iconic metal band Motorhead, and ‘Dancing in the Moonlight’ singers, Toploader.

There will also be some musical doppelgangers, with amazing tribute acts to Oasis, Green Day, Rage Against the Machine, Blink 182, Foo Fighters and Limp Bizkit.

Teddy Rocks Festival started from humble beginnings at The Greyhound pub in North Dorset in 2012. Founder of the festival, Tom Newton, 29, from Blandford, Dorset, wanted to help fundraise for the Teddy20, a charity started by his parents to raise money for children and families fighting cancer.

In 2008, Tom's younger brother Ted was diagnosed with a very rare form of bone cancer, Ewings Sarcoma. He sadly passed away in June 2010 at the age of 10. Teddy20 was set up in his memory and it became a registered UK charity in 2014.

Mr Newton said: “We’re gearing up for the biggest and best festival yet, with our strongest line up to date. We have worked tirelessly to ensure that there is something on offer for everyone and hope to welcome a record-breaking number of visitors over the weekend.”
