DIVERS working in Portland Harbour were offered a helping hand – or rather a flipper – by a very inquisitive dolphin.

Ian Taylor, director of Apex Diving and Marine Ltd, said: "We are a commercial diving company so do a lot of work in the harbour and we have been doing safety inspections and working on the moorings in the harbour.

"We have all the equipment unlike sports divers so every diver has a proper diving camera and everything, which is how one of our divers got the video.

"The dolphin has been around since September I think. We've spotted him a few times and he's mostly stayed away but I think as he's got more used to us he's been getting closer and closer.

"We've been making a lot of noise under the water with all the chains chinking and the divers speaking to each other so he's probably come over to because he's heard the voices.

"On Monday he came right up to see what we were up to and he almost stands on his head as he's having a look and he came back again the next day as well."
