A DANCE school on Chapel Lane in Weymouth was vandalised when three bricks were thrown through its front windows.

Owner of Mercury Dance school Jenny Glover said it was unpleasant to see this kind of damage.

She said: "I came in on Sunday morning and there was glass everywhere where three bricks had been chucked through the window.

"The glass was all over the costumes and I had to cancel my classes that day."

It comes after the residents of Chapel Lane handed a petition to Weymouth and Portland Borough Council asking for help with the parking problems in the road, which they say are caused by dance school pupils.

A meeting to try and resolve the issue is planned to take place later this month with borough Councillor Christine James and the residents of the lane.

In response to the residents' complaints about the parking problems, Mrs Glover said: "To be totally honest I didn't realise there was so much of a problem.

"I can't do any more than ask my customers to be mindful of the residents in the road."

The dance school has been in Chapel Lane for two years and has had previous trouble with signposts being stolen from outside.

A spokesman for Dorset Police said they are investigating the vandalism and they are appealing for anyone who saw anything between 9pm on Saturday, October 6, and 9am the following day to call 01305 222222.
