Two fire crews responded to a crash in North Dorset this morning, with a driver trapped in a vehicle.

Police were called at 9.25am this morning after one car crashed between the villages of Hazelbury Bryan and Shaftesbury.

Fire crews from Sturminster Newton and Sherborne fire stations were mobilised shortly after.

Firefighters had to remove the windscreen of the car to free the driver who was trapped inside the wreckage.

A woman was injured and initially an air ambulance was called to take care of her but upon further inspection her injuries were not deemed serious and she is due to be taken to Dorset County Hospital by ambulance for an assessment.

Officers and firefighters made the area clear and safe but discovered that there was some fuel spillage in the road, so notified the local authority to clear it.

Updates to follow.
