YOU could have divided the tension with a slide rule at a closely fought maths tournament for Weymouth and Portland pupils.
Some 60 Year 6 pupils put their maths prowess to the test for the annual Primary Maths Challenge at Budmouth Technology College in Weymouth.
The 10 and 11-year-olds took on five different maths challenges as they competed for the prestigious shield.
Budmouth's advanced skills maths teacher Amy Harris said: "We had a maths version of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, a chessboard investigation, a consecutive number investigation, 3-D modelling and estimating the length of a cow.
"Great fun was had by all."
Emerging victorious were pupils from Chickerell Primary School, with pupils from Radipole Primary School and Holy Trinity Primary School in second and third.
Ms Harris said the idea behind the challenge was to show students that maths can be fun.
