THERE is just over a week left before community groups will pitch for your support - over a bowl of soup.

Live crowdfunding event Bridport Soup will return to raise financial support for inspiring local projects and initiatives.

The idea is that, for a price of £4, you get a bowl of soup, made from locally-sourced produce, and a vote. During the evening, four local projects will each deliver a four-minute pitch about their project, its community benefits and what the funding will support.

Each pitch is then followed by four questions from the audience before the crowd votes.

The winning project receives the takings from the door and pledges to share how they’ve used their funding at the next Bridport Soup.

Last year, Bridport Mind Fest secure funding on the night, which helped organisers to co-produce events during the festival with Bridport Youth and Community Centre.

Jonny Gordon-Farleigh, local supporter of social enterprises and founder of Stir to Action, has long been excited by the potential of the Detroit Soup model and worked with Linda Hull from Communities Living Sustainably to bring it to Bridport.

You can attend Bridport Soup by signing up via eventbrite to confirm your place and pay 'what you feel' on the night (suggested contribution from £4).

The event will take place on Sunday, March 10, from 6pm to 9pm at the United Church on East Street.
