AM I alone in feeling disenfranchised by the behaviour of our local MPs, Richard Drax and Michael Tomlinson, as active members of the Conservative Party’s European Research Group?

While the Prime Minister is doggedly trying to finalise a deal with the EU, they support policies that could lead to the greatest act of self-harm ever imposed on our country - a ‘no deal' Brexit.

They appear to have accepted that a 52 per cent Leave vote completely negates the sincerely held views of the 48 per cent who voted Remain. I had hoped that both MPs would appreciate how close the referendum result was.

Mr Drax and Mr Tomlinson might gain more respect from their constituents if they looked for the consensus that the majority expects. A ‘no deal’ is not that consensus.
