A man was taken to hospital with serious injuries after being attacked in Weymouth town centre.
Police say a man in his 40s was assaulted by two younger men outside Boots in St Mary Street between 2.15am and 2.45am today.
The victim was taken to hospital for treatment to serious head and facial injuries.
The suspects, described as white and aged in their late teens or early 20s, were reported to have left the scene in the direction of the King's Statue.
An 18-year-old local man has been arrested on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm and is assisting officers with their enquiries.
Police Constable John Poe, of Dorset Police, said: “We are carrying out enquiries into this incident and I am appealing to anyone who witnessed an altercation in St Mary’s Street in the early hours of this morning to contact us.”
