ISSUES surrounding the environment, food and farming will come under the spotlight during a serious of events taking place over the next two weeks.

Bridport’s Green Fortnight kicks off on Saturday and aims to highlight the need to reduce food waste, encourages local people to consider the impact on the planet of where and how their food is produced and sold, and is an all-round celebration of the town’s independent shops and local produce. Led by Transition Town Bridport, the event runs between March 9-22.

Throughout the fortnight, the group aims to inform and inspire local people towards a more sustainable lifestyle that will help lessen the effects of climate change.

To start things off, a launch night will take place at the town hall on Saturday at 7.30pm. It will welcome speakers Dan Powell of LandBase and storyteller Martin Maudsley, plus a soap box with local food groups
