THE sometimes bewildering world of digital marketing will be made clearer at a free event organised for businesses by the Dorset Echo.

The sessions will avoid jargon as they offer a simple guide to such subjects as search engine optimisation (SEO), pay per click advertising (PPC) and websites.

They are being hosted by the Echo and LOCALiQ, the new brand name for the full range of advertising and digital services from publisher Newsquest.

The events are at the Duchess of Cornwall, 12 Queen Mother Square, Poundbury on Wednesday, March 27 at 11.30am and 2.30pm.

At 11.30am, the subject is Driving Leads and Awareness, focusing on search, social and display and how to get it right.

For the 2.30pm event, the topic will be Social Media Mastery, focusing on social media including Instagram, Facebook lead ads, smart ads and LinkedIn.

Digital specialists will be on hand to offer one-to-one guidances, but organisers say the environment will not be about sales – just free advice and information.

Every business attending will be entitled to a free online health check.

Tracy Hayden, advertising director for the Dorset Echo, said: “More and more consumers are researching and buying products and services online and having a solid digital marketing plan is the most cost-effective way to market your business.”

Previous events have attracted positive feedback from guests.

Andrew Filer of Mock Test Transfers said: “This was an excellent event. I wish I had attended sooner. It was a good introduction to the art of the impossible.”

Eddie Lawrence from Access Self Storage said: “I can highly recommend the digital seminar. Always a good idea to keep up to date with technology, plus it’s a great event to network and speak with other industries.”
