A YOUNG Bridport filmmaker is creating a new short social drama, film entirely at the town’s recycling centre.

Fred Warren, a student at the University of Exeter, led a cast and crew of 15 people and shot the film 'Refuse' between 6am and 10am on February 25 and 26.

Fred said: “When I first wrote the script, I think a lot of people thought it was an impossible project to do as a student film, but everyone involved went above and beyond and it was only thanks to their efforts that it all came together.

“I am very lucky to live in an area where there are so many people who are up for taking part in creative projects like this.

“The film is completely set at the recycling centre and explores how a group of unacquainted individuals react – or don’t react – when someone arrives and begins to flout the code of the centre.

“It is partly inspired by the work of Mike Leigh and Rueben Ostlund, so will hopefully be a mix of comedy and social drama.”

The film is now in post-production and will be released during the summer.
