Lord Adonis, vice-chairman of the European Movement spoke at a public meeting in the Thomas Hardye School, Dorchester.
The packed meeting heard passionate arguments from the prominent campaigner for a People’s Vote on the Brexit deal.
Former Education minister, Andrew Adonis, was delighted to be speaking at a school and won warm applause from the students present when he urged them to campaign for votes at 16.
Speaking after the meeting he said: "It was a pleasure to speak with so many enthusiastic supporters of a People’s Vote. I was especially delighted to have the chance to respond to some very perceptive questions from sixth form students who join me in demanding a say on the biggest issue facing their future – Brexit."
Residents were pleased to hear the positive arguments put forward.
Local campaigner Richard Baker said: "We were further motivated to continue with our campaign after hearing such an inspiring speech.
"Andrew spoke movingly about the importance of the EU to the longest period of peace across Europe ever and how without our membership of the EU, our children are going to miss out on so many opportunities."
