Weymouth residents are being reminded to give their views in a consultation about rented housing.
Weymouth and Portland Borough Council wants to know whether a landlord licensing scheme should be introduced. It would aim to address levels of deprivation experienced by many tenants through improving the way housing is managed. Landlords would, for example, have to make sure properties are well managed and maintained.
It would effectively mean that private rented accommodation in most of the Melcombe Regis (town centre) area would be subject to licensing, with conditions attached to the licence requiring landlords to adopt good management practices.
A consultation on the proposal ends on April 12.
