A VIGIL is being held in Dorchester this week to remember those who lost their lives in the recent mosque attacks in New Zealand.
The South West Dorset Multicultural Network (SWDMCN) is inviting all people of good will to attend the service, which will take place at 6pm, this Friday at St Peter's Church, High West Street.
At least 50 people were killed during two mass shootings at mosques last week in Christchurch, New Zealand, which is twinned with Christchurch in Dorset.
A further 50 are believed to have been wounded, with over 30 people still in a critical condition as of Monday – including a four-year-old girl.
Rachelle Smith, secretary of SWDMCN said: "Our intention is not only to show our sorrow and send our condolences to the people of Christchurch, but also to stand in solidarity with our Moslem friends and neighbours.
"We stand against all forms of prejudice and intolerance and want all members of our community to feel safe and welcome here."
