A MAN killed in a collision with a motorbike died of a head injury, an inquest heard yesterday.

As reported, Bournemouth man Adam Wilcox, 55, died in hospital the day after a crash on the A27 Mansbridge Road in Southampton on March 7. He was on foot at the time of the collision.

Pathologist Professor James Nicholl told Winchester Coroner’s Court the preliminary cause of death for Mr Wilcox, who lived in Colehill Crescent, was a traumatic head injury caused by a road traffic collision.

Senior coroner Grahame Short adjourned the inquest for a hearing on August 28.

The collision happenedduring the Thursday morning rush-hour. It involved a pedestrian – Mr Wilcox – and a orange, trail-style motorbike.

Mr Wilcox was taken to Southampton General Hospital with life-threatening injuries but did not survive.

A spokesman for Hampshire Constabulary confirmed his next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

Officers continue to investigate the exact circumstances of the collision.
