AN INITIATIVE to get youngsters involved in local democracy was labelled a flop by councillors.
The Dude, Where's My Councillor?' scheme was launched last October as part of local democracy week, an event designed to get young people involved in local decision making Council chiefs hoped that the initiative would get teenagers talking with their councillor on a range of issues on an online forum.
But a meeting of Dorset County Council's community overview committee heard that the scheme had proved a failure and a new initiative where councillors would meet young people face to face was being set up.
Councillors welcomed the new initiative and the demise of Dude Where's My Councillor?
A meeting between councillors and members of the Dorset Youth Council Enables (DYCE) is planned for next month.
