TRAVELLERS have moved on to two sites in Weymouth.
One group is at the Swannery car park near Radipole Lake and another is at the park and ride site at Mount Pleasant.
Dorset County Council’s Gypsy and Traveller Liaison Officer has been made aware of the travellers and will be visiting them.
Police officers were seen at the borough-council owned Swannery car park yesterday.
Nicola Keyworth-Wright, Weymouth & Portland Borough Council’s Parking and Transport Manager, said: “We are aware of the travellers in Swannery car park and are currently working with Dorset County Council’s Gypsy and Traveller Liaison Officer and Dorset Police, to facilitate their leaving as soon as possible.”
A police spokesman said: “We were called at 4pm on Sunday to reports of travellers on Swannery car park in Weymouth. We are liaising with the group and the council as the landowner.”
A spokesman for the county council said it is unable to comment until the Gypsy and Travel Liaison Officer visits the sites.
