There has been a multi-vehicle crash on the A35 Dorchester Road.

Dorset Police was called at 11.05am today (Monday, April 1) to reports of a multi-vehicle crash on the westbound carriageway of the A35.

Four vehicles were involved – a blue Vauxhall Grandland, silver Ford Transit van, grey BMW and a silver Skoda Octavia. 

The driver of the Grandland was suffering from back and neck pain. The firefighters had to cut off the roof of her car with hydraulic cutting equipment in order to free the driver.

She was taken to hospital for treatment on a spinal board but her injuries are not believed to be serious. No one else was injured.

The westbound carriageway of the A35 was closed between the Shipton Gorge turn-off and Firch Lane while emergency services dealt with the incident.

The road is now open but police are appealing for witnesses of the incident to come forward.

Police Constable Brian Puttock, of Bridport police, said: “I am appealing to anyone who was travelling along the A35 at the relevant time and either saw the collision or witnessed the manner of driving of any of the vehicles involved to please contact Dorset Police.

“I am also keen to hear from anyone who may have captured the incident on dashcam.”
