A LEADING archae-ologist will reveal the exciting opportunities that lie ahead to discover more of Dorchester's rich heritage as part of the redevelopment of Charles Street.

Developer Simons has launched stage two of the consultation on the Charles Street Project and a public meeting next week will give local people an opportunity to hear more about emerging plans for the site, to share their views and to ask any questions they may have.

Among the speakers at the meeting in the Corn Exchange on Wednesday will be Neil Holbrook from Cotswold Archaeology.

Mr Holbrook, who is a regular on Channel 4's Time team and an expert on Roman history will present the findings from his archaeological investi-gations to date and talk about opportunities the scheme will bring.

As part of the evening Mark Lewis, Simons Development Director, will present an overview of the consultation process.

Dorchester mayor Coun David Barrett will chair the meeting and he urged townsfolk to come along and have their say.

"There won't be any detail there of the form the development will take but this is the opportunity for people to come along and say what they would like to see there. The more people come along and ask questions and give comments the better informed the developer will be."

Consultation Coordinator Alison Bancroft said: "The decisions taken to date will shape subsequent scheme designs and we feel that this is an important stage in the process for people to be able to share their thoughts."

The meeting starts at 7pm in the Corn Exchange.
