Students from schools around Dorset spent a day at Kingston Maurward learning about career opportunities for the future.

There were lots of different jobs for students to find out about and I learned what Army life was like when talking to a soldier at the festival.

He told me how life in the Army was very challenging and enduring, but also very rewarding. He spoke about how one of the best things in the Army was the great sense of teamwork and togetherness.

He said that the Army worked as a team and as a unit and you all have to do your own duty and rely on other people to do their job.

He talked about how life in the Army was a long, hard grind but it was so much more rewarding when you succeeded.

He talked of his experiences when going to Iraq. He said that experiences such as his when he had been to Iraq had made him look at life differently. He talked of being shot at and also having bombs thrown at him.

He said that made him feel grateful for what he had and that some of his experiences had been very exciting. The job of being in the Army sounds like one for someone who is brave, who is ready to die for their country and does not mind desperate or desolate situations.

There were lots of interesting people talking there but that one really stood out for me.
