A man has sadly died following a car crash near Dorchester.

Dorset Police was called at 10.19pm on Wednesday, March 20 to reports of a single vehicle collision on the A352 Old Sherborne Road near to Herrison Road involving a black Mini.

A 66-year-old man from Sherborne sustained serious life-threatening injuries and was taken to Southampton General Hospital for emergency treatment.

Despite the best efforts of medical staff, he died of his injuries on Tuesday, April 2.

His family continue to be supported by specially-trained officers.

Inspector Joe Pardey, of the traffic unit, said: “Our thoughts are with the family at this extremely difficult time.

“We are continuing to investigate this collision to establish the full circumstances of what happened and I would appeal to any witnesses, or anyone with dashcam footage, who have not already spoken to police to please come forward.”
