PLANNERS are backing a scheme to build a three-storey house at Weston Road on Portland.
Residents have written to Weymouth and Portland Borough Council with their concerns about the plan and 10 people have signed a petition. Objections include loss of space and a claim that the proposed access for vehicles would be unsafe for pedestrians.
But others have written to support the plan, saying it would 'tidy up a rough and unkempt site'.
Planning officers are recommending the scheme is approved, subject to conditions, and councillors will discuss it at a meeting next Wednesday.
