FOR some the end of the sailing season looms at Weymouth Sailing Club and boats will be lifted out for winter storage at the club's Nothe Parade yard.
This will free up moorings for boats of up to 10m long and owners looking for winter moorings should contact the club on 01305 785481.
While some are being lifted out, most are still thrashing around the cans in Weymouth bay. WSC is the only club left this time of year organising racing for keel boats and there is a full programme right up until Boxing Day.
Last Sunday saw the start of the winter series for IRC, PY handicapped cruisers and National Squibs, 40 boats made the start line.
n IN other club news, member Kathy Claydon has just returned from racing in Turkey after helming a 40-foot yacht, crewed entirely of women from Israel, Holland and Turkey, some had not sailed before, some spoke no English. Ms Claydon said the International Women's Sailing Cup took place in fabulously sunny weather.
She said: "I had expected to be the helm but ended up as instructor, skipper and tactician. We achieved a second in the longest race and third overall."
