Two fire engines were called to a fire in a shipping container on Portland.

One crew from Portland and another from Bridport attended after three members of the public dialled 999 at around 3pm.

A spokesperson from Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue said the contents were "well ablaze" when they arrived on the scene.

"Two hose reel jets were used", they confirmed.

"The metal container was used as storage as part of the working quarry.

"We left the scene at 3.44pm."

No cause has been recorded about how the fire started.
