A robber is alleged to have forcibly removed money from a victim's hand during a robbery in Weymouth town centre.

Police have launched an appeal for witnesses to come forward following the incident, which is said to have occurred at around 12.30am on Sunday April 7 in St Nicholas Street.

According to police, an altercation broke out between the victim – a local woman aged in her 20s – and the offender.

During this time the offender forcibly removed money from the victim’s hand before he walked off along Lower St Alban Street.

The victim and offender are known to each other.

Police Constable Matthew Love, of Weymouth police, said: “This incident occurred on a Saturday night and I am aware that there were a number of people in the area at the time.

I would ask anyone who recalls witnessing this incident, or seeing anything suspicious in the area at the time, to please contact Dorset Police.”
