THE Royal British Legion is calling for people to send in dedications for the Remembrance Day service, especially from families of serving soldiers.

The service will be held at Holy Trinity Church, Weymouth, on Sunday, November 11, and personal dedications will be read out which the Legion says helps bring a personal dimension to the act of remembrance'.

President of Weymouth Royal British Legion Michael Gill said: "The service is intended to cover all soldiers that died in the First and Second World Wars but also in subsequent conflicts. The dedication could also be for a veteran who is still living or indeed soldiers that are currently a member of the armed forces serving in Iraq or other places around the world."

The details needed for a request are name, rank, which service and regiment, a brief statement such as killed in action in Normandy June 1944' or wing commander in Iraq 2003-2004'.

It also needs to contain why that particular soldier is connected to the area, either if they once lived in the area or if they have relatives who live here.
