A SEWING Bee competition held at Bits & Bobs in Weymouth has raised money for the Project Linus UK charity.

The competition is held annually at the Portland Road based shop, and was divided into five categories, similar to the Sewing Bee programme on BBC 2.

These included making a garment for an adult; making a garment for a child; making an upcycled garment; making a toy, and making an item for the home.

Judging took place at midday, with prizes donated by Bits & Bobs.

The winners were Silvia Prior, who made a splendid wedding dress; Viv Kimber for her fabulous upcycled Poldark style dress made from curtains; Wenda Lacey, who made a very loved and well made Cinderella upside down doll, and Judy Bird, who made a sweet wall hanging of a fawn.

Project Linus is a voluntary organisation that makes quilts for sick, disabled, disadvantaged or otherwise distressed children in West Dorset. Volunteers are required to help run the organisation, make quilts, and make donations of cotton fabric, fleece, sheeting and wadding.
