EXMOUTH TOWN SECONDS 0

LYME REGIS 0

THERE were two penalty saves as Exmouth Town Seconds held Lyme Regis to a 0-0draw in the Macron Devon and Exeter League Premier Division.

Rob Fellingham saw a first-half penalty saved by former Exeter goalkeeper Martin Rice, while Will Meech saved a second-half penalty.

Ben Turner saw an effort cleared off the line, when it seemed to be going in, to deny Lyme a goal with almost the last kick of the game.

Exmouth started better were rushing forward quickly and had a good opportunity which Lyme goalkeeper Will Meech saved.

However, Lyme grew into the game and got a penalty for a foul on Fred Parsons after 35 minutes, but Rice read Fellingham’s effort to keep it out.

The second half saw the home side have a good chance which brought another good save from Meech.

Five minutes from time, Meech saved a spot-kick, before a late Exmouth clearance denied Lyme a winning goal as the two sides ended level.

Lyme Regis boss Gerard Hitchcock said: “A draw was probably a fair-ish result, but they did not play a lot of football, we were the only footballing side that were playing.

“They were very much kick and rush, but on their recent results going there then it is probably a point gained, because they have improved drastically in the last few months.”

Lyme Regis: Meech, Larcombe, Knight, White, Cleal (Bond 70), Turner, Bailey, Fellingham, Parsons, Vine (D Holmes 80).
