Firefighters have been tackling a huge blaze at a business park since 6.30pm on Sunday night.

Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that there had been a fire at Melbury Farm Business Park and that hazardous materials are involved.

There were four fire engines as well as a fire investigations officer and a hazardous materials officer at the scene.

Residents in the West Melbury and Shaftesbury area had been advised to shut all windows and doors due to the smoke plume.

DW Fire Control said yesterday morning: "We still have four pumps from Swanage, Portland, Dorchester and Wimborne in attendance at this incident. If you live in or near the area, please heed previous advice and keep doors and windows shut."

Dorset Council said: "The fire at Melbury Farm Business Park is still burning, but under control by @DWFireRescue . All surrounding routes are now reopen. Advice is to stay indoors and tune into local news for latest updates. If feeling unwell from smoke exposure, call NHS 111. Stay safe everyone."

Updates to follow.
