CONCERNING the problem of rough sleeping, which is not unique to Weymouth, there can only be a limited action taken to deter those few who choose to blight our town with their presence.

Until acts of Parliament are passed, bylaws are not sufficient enough to change the situation

The latest Idea of fining those that are sleeping rough, £100, is a non starter.

Where are these people going to get £100 in the first place?

If they are sleeping rough, they are living hand to mouth.

That is why we have street beggars.

It is up to the Government to bring into use legislation on a national level to deter these people from congregating in our towns and cities, giving our country an image of degradation and mismanagement.
