The A35 Dorchester bypass was closed by police last night as officers dealt with a concern for welfare incident.

Dorset Police was called at 8.44pm on Wednesday, April 24 to a report of a concern for welfare for a woman on a bridge over the A35 outside Dorchester.

Officers attended and the A35 was closed between the Monkeys Jump roundabout and the Stadium roundabout as a precaution.

The woman was taken to safety at around 10.20pm and given appropriate care. The road was subsequently reopened.
