A MOTHER and daughter who run a picture framing business have achieved a distinguished industry title.
Rowena and Jen Evans, of Cemetery Road, Portesham, near Weymouth, have both qualified as Guild Commended Framers, the professional qualification that marks them as being at the top of their field.
Mrs Evans, 56, said: "Only 970 framers in the world have achieved this qualification, and the nearest Commended Framers to West Dorset apart from us, are in Poole - so we are unique in this area."
Mrs Evans said she started helping her daughter Miss Evans, 33, when she started her business up but three or four months into it she hurt her back and her mother learnt to frame pictures in a hurry and went on from there.
The pair now run a regular market stall in South Street, Dorchester, from Wednesday to Saturday every week.
Mrs Evans said: "We do box frames, we've done football shirts, and we're doing one at the moment with 14 medals around a picture. We can frame anything - collectibles, artwork, needlecraft.
The skilled framers will now be creating work to hold their own certificates. To find out more about their work contact Country Arts Picture Framers on 01305 871855.
