A man was told to move by police following reports of anti-social behaviour on Weymouth Esplanade.
The incident happened on the seafront yesterday.
The man was given a Section 35 dispersal order, which means if he refused to leave the area the would be liable to arrest.
A spokesman for Dorset Police said: “We have just issued a Section 35 dispersal order to a male on The Esplanade following continued reports of anti-social behaviour.
“These orders are one of the tools we have to tackle anti-social behaviour and have recently been expanded out to our PCSOs, for them to use where necessary.
“The one today was issued by a PCSO for the first time in Weymouth.
“If the direction to leave the area is not adhered to then the person is liable to arrest.”
There have been numerous reports of anti-social behaviour blighting the seafront.
