A brand new business created by local Mum Bethany Carter will be hosting its first sensory play events in West Dorset this June.

Pumpkin Play’s ‘By The Sea’ themed events will have 10+ stations featuring seaside themed activities including spaghetti waves, jelly fish with real jelly, rock pools, sea creatures, water play, taste-safe sand, and more.

The events, for children aged 6 months (or sitting unaided) to 5 years old, will be held at the weekend so that they are more inclusive for working parents. All events are one-offs, which means parents will not be obligated to attend more than one or sign up to a course.

Bethany Carter from Dorchester says: “As a self-employed working parent with a baby, I found that many of the groups and activities I wanted to attend clashed with my working hours, and my partner was excluded because he worked full time during the week. We would have loved to be able to attend local sensory play events at the weekend with our baby, so I made the decision to host them myself!

“We were already doing lots of sensory play activities at home and receiving a positive response to our setups. Over the last 12 months, I have invested a lot of time and energy into learning the skills required to host these events and it has been so much fun coming up with ideas for the ‘By The Sea’ theme. It's a great opportunity to play in a multi-sensory environment filled with a variety of activities to encourage fun, stimulation, and the development of fine and gross motor skills. It’s also a lovely way to bond with your child, and they will love to see parents getting stuck in too.”

Events will take place at Stratton, on June 1, Bridport on June 22, Weymouth on July 6, and a Yeovil venue and date to be confirmed.

Places are limited and booking via EventBrite is essential. For more information, please visit the website at www.pumpkinplay.co.uk or find the Facebook Page at www.facebook.com/pumpkinsensoryplay.
