Weymouth RNLI all-weather and inshore lifeboats were launched at 2pm yesterday to help an elderly sailor in trouble.
Solent coastguard had reported that a single sailor in a 21' yacht was just outside of Weymouth Harbour but was unable to make it into the harbour unaided.
The elderly skipper taken onto the inshore lifeboat and transported back to the lifeboat station while the volunteer crew from the all-weather lifeboat took the yacht in tow into the harbour and onto a berth.
The incident was closed at approx 2.40pm and both lifeboats were made ready for the next shout.
