THE clear-up following the MSC Napoli disaster is still very much under way, salvagers stressed.
As reported in The Echo, a major phase of the operation to remove containers washed up along the West Dorset coastline was completed on Friday.
A team recovered the final section from the beach at Golden Cap and brought it safely ashore at West Bay.
But a spokesman for the owners' insurance company says that the work to remove spilled contents from the seabed and shoreline is likely to last several more weeks.
"We still have dive teams recovering from the broken open containers - mostly car parts," he said.
"We are still working to salvage the debris with teams based at the wreck site in Branscombe and in Portland. We are likely to be working for at least another month or so."
